Black Men and Relaxed Hair... Never the twain....

I always said I'd talk about this when I did my blog...

I'm sorry, but Black men who relax their hair... It's just WRONG. I loved the World Cup, not just because Ghana did so well, but also because it showcased a litany of hairstyle howlers.

There appears to be some kind of mental condition that afflict certain footballers of colour that causes them to take leave of their senses. The two most guilty of this crime are Messers Didier Drogba, and Emmanuel Adebayor.

What di rass dem do to dem head ee?

It looks greasy and nasty..... Soul Glow has nothing on these guys. I mean, a black guy in an alice band...please!

What really makes me laugh is this process:
  1. These men go into a hair salon;
  2. They ask for their hair to be relaxed;
  3. Once the process is complete they look in the mirror and give their approval;
  4. They PAY THE PROPRIETOR and then...
  5. They LEAVE the salon happy...!

Sorry guys... You should get shown the red card.

I think Black Men with relaxed hair look great and really sexy. Louis Saha is my personal favourite, he looks ever so masculine.

I sometimes wish i as a black man, just to i could get my hair relaxed.

Im just a blonde, white woman though. Shame!!!

I love how there is a double standard on men and women with hair. Hair has no sex, no gender! Its peoples ignorance that denotes this style being "ugly" or "wrong". If a black women can rock a relaxed style, so should a black man be able to. Hair is hair, as long as it is worn in a style that is current, and it looks good on the person, why do you the critics care?

Hair is Hair. If you're going by this one black man with relaxed hair, then you're just an idiot.

Because there are plenty of black men that look good with relaxed/permed hair.

The poster of this article is a biased moron. Hair is hair. Leave people alone and grow up you high school drama queen.

The world is better off without stupid critics like you.

Let people do what they want whether if its having orange hair or having 300 piercings on their head.

ITS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

Also I relax my hair as a male, and OH BOY, let me tell you, I have NO PROBLEMS with the ladies. ;)

I agree that people should be able to have a choice, but for ANYONE who chemically alters thier hair(relax, perm, bleaching etc). It needs to look good! Especially those in the public eye. These men in THESE particular pics do not...

I'm a black man from the states, and though I'm not all black I do still need to straighten it to get that style I'm looking for, I'm an aspiring model and many people, black, white, Hispanic etc think it looks great but I do agree that some if not 50 percent of black men shouldn't simply because if how there head is shaped & no prior experience in how to maintain a relaxed haircut. And as far as white people go with dreads...it looks badass to say the least. "the times they are a-changin"

These kinds of opinions are old-fashioned and sexist. Who actually gives a damn what anyone does to their hair? Besides, these pictures are irrelevant. Particularly because these men obviously don't know how to manage their hair, or style it properly. Neither these men, nor this article, have any sense of style.

What a ridiculous article, aesthetics are obviously subjective.

Personally I have an aversion to shaved / short hairstyles, so I think black men with relaxed hair look GREAT!
